At around 10.30pm, Wednesday 26th October 2011 I felt a POP, there goes my waters! Told Antonio it was time, he looked so pleased and excited. I called triage and they asked me to go in for a trace as little one had been a bit quiet. I rang my mom asking her to come round to look after Isabella. Whilst we waited for mom to arrive the pains started, I lay next to Isabella in her bed as she slept and cuddled up to her. Mom arrived and we left to go to hospital. It was around midnight when we arrived and shortly after I was put on a trace for quite some time as the unit was busy. Baby was happy and having a good wiggle so it was time have a look down below. I was having regular, painful contractions but my cervix was still closed. We were sent home. We left around 2am. When we got home, me and Antonio lay on the bed together. Antonio was really tired so it was decided he would have a nap, whilst my mom kept me company, thinking they could swap over later. The contractions were very painful, I didn't want to stay in the same place for too long. Lay in bed for a short while then sat on the loo for a bit (sorry), walked around living room, pains got unbearable really quick. We hadn't been home long but I wanted to go back to the hospital. I asked mom to wake Antonio up. Whilst mum went upstairs I lay on the sofa and got the urge to push. Mum and Antonio eventually came down ' I need to push', I called out, the shock and disbelief in their faces is something i'll never forget. Antonio ran to get the phone to call for an ambulance. Mom took my leggings off than ran upstairs for towels. I felt so happy, so calm. Mom came back just in time to see baby's head being born, one more push and our baby was born, approx 3.30am. Antonio gave us instructions from the emergency services over the phone. My baby was quiet, the cord was round the neck. Antonio and mom unravelled it then put my bundle onto my tummy, with a good rub with the towels my baby started to cry. Mom had a look to see what we'd had 'it's a boy!' Me and mom were overjoyed, Antonio was still petrified! Not long after the ambulance turned up, they clamped his cord and Antonio cut it. We were quickly checked over, wrapped up warm and put in the ambulance to go to hospital. Antonio Followed behind in our car. On arrival at the hospital we were greeted with many congratulations from the staff and taken to our room. All the usual checks were done and Matteo had his first feed. We were so happy, still in shock but felt so happy to have such a beautiful baby boy. We are so proud of Nanny Pat for bringing Matteo into the world, she did such a great job. xxx
